PSG determined to recruit Zabarnyi despite Bournemouth opposition

Paris Saint-Germain remains strongly interested in the acquisition of Ilya Zabarnyi, the Ukrainian defender currently operating in Bournemouth. The negotiations with the English club face a major difficulty: Bournemouth maintains a firm position and claims 70 million euros for the departure of his player, an amount that hinders the operation. The PSG, although having already made two offers (EUR 50 million and EUR 65 million), is preparing a third proposal closer to Bournemouth’s expectations. The direct involvement of Nasser Al-Khelaรฏfi, president of the club, is envisaged in order to unblock the situation and conclude this priority dossier, notably under the impulse of Luis Euriq, the coach, who sees Zabarnyi as an ideal reinforcement for the defensive axis.

At the same time, the PSG achieved an interesting financial coup with the sale of Hugo Ekitike to Liverpool. The transaction, initially a purchase option loan and a resale percentage, allows Paris to recover more than 14 million euros thanks to the 20% resale clause included in the contract. This sale represents a near return on investment for a player who has not worn the Parisian jersey much, but whose financial trajectory is ultimately beneficial to the club. The transaction resulted in a transfer of 90 million euros plus 5 million bonuses, a significant gain for the PSG.

The arrival of Ilya Zabarnyi is seen as a priority for the PSG as part of its defence enhancement this summer. After a first attempted transfer failed in June, Nasser Al-Khelaรฏfi’s personal involvement aims to speed up negotiations and avoid the arrival of European competitors. The player, although having expressed his desire to join Paris, remains professional and continues his summer preparation with Bournemouth, ready to engage as soon as the clubs reach an agreement. Luis Euriq’s desire to strengthen the defensive axis with a young and experienced player is a key argument in this process.
