The AS Roma, after having already expressed an interest in Kevin Danso, is again active in the transfer market and targets Neil El Aynaoui, midfielder of RC Lens. According to information from Foot Mercato, an agreement in principle was found with the player, who would be interested in an extension. However, the transaction remains conditional on validation by RC Lens, which has not yet received an offer deemed sufficient. El Aynaoui’s arrival at the Roma meets a specific tactical need: to boost the recovery of the bullet, to strengthen the offensive projection and to offer an alternative to Crisante in the midfield.
The contract proposed by Roma would extend until June 2030, with a significant increase in Neil El Aynaoui’s salary. This proposal represents a financial challenge for RC Lens, which does not have an emergency to sell its player and awaits a higher offer. The Lens leaders are also concerned about the sports situation of the team for the next season of Ligue 1, with a staff still uncertain under the direction of Pierre Sage. The potential added value for RC Lens is considerable, given that Neil El Aynaoui had been recruited for a modest amount of €600,000.
From a financial point of view, the RC Lens could realize a significant added value, in addition to that already achieved with the sale of Abdukodiir Kuhasanov. This situation is favourable to President Joseph Oughourlian, but obliges the club to speed up its mercato to maintain the competitiveness of its workforce. The negotiations between Roma and RC Lens are therefore under way, with increasing pressure on the Lens leaders to accept a proposal that represents a major financial opportunity while taking into account the team’s sporting stakes.
