Preparation of Stade Rennais: two friendly matches and refined strategy

Stade Rennais intensified its preparations this weekend with two friendly matches against a Basque team, organized by Habib Beye to refine the team’s strategy. The day was divided into two meetings: a first, not broadcast, with less usual players, and a second more representative of the League 1 composition. These matches resulted in two draws (0-0 and 1-1), providing valuable lessons for the team. Beye confirmed its preference for a 3-5-2 system, with a defence composed of Rouault, Brassier and Jacquet ahead of Samba, and Al-Tamari and Merlin on the sides. In the middle of the field, Rongier, Fofana and Santamaria ensured control, while Blas and Kalimuendo were responsible for dynamiting the opposing defence.

The evening game was marked by a counter-current goal from Ruperez, following a defensive error and Merlin’s speed. Despite overall control of the game by the Rennais, they lacked offensive danger, creating only one notable opportunity for Fofana. The attack then weakened after the break, requiring replacements. The Rennes youth finally made it possible to equalize at the end of the game, with a Nagida center for Meรฏtรฉ, which scored the goal equalizer on a powerful head. This null result, similar to that of the morning, is perceived as reassuring on the defensive plane, although it fails to convince on the offensive plane.

The next and final stage of the preparation of the Stade Rennais will take place next Saturday at Roazhon Park, in a friendly match against the Genoa at 6 p.m. Team compositions for both friendly games were unveiled, showing player changes and tactical experimentation. The team aligned on Saturday morning included players such as Alemdar, Hateboeer and Faye, while the evening composition included Samba, Rouault, Jacquet and Brassier. These meetings allow the team to prepare to face the Genoa and refine its strategy before the start of the season.
