Olympique Lyonnais won his fourth friendly match of the summer against RC Deportivo de Mallorca (4-0) in Austria as part of his preparation for the recovery of Ligue 1. Coach Paulo Fonseca preferred a composition similar to that used in the previous match against Hamburg, with some adjustments due to the absence of Malick Fofana, who was injured in the head. Afonso Moreira had the opportunity to start, aligning himself with Georges Mikautadze and Ainsley Maitland-Niles. The game saw goals from Abner, Mikautadze and a double of Abner, as well as the first professional goal from Khalis Merah, a promising young midfielder. Despite an easy win, the team suffered an injury to Khalis Merah, who left the lawn with a pain in the ankle.
OL’s summer preparation was gradual, with games against increasingly difficult teams: first a National team, then a Belgian second division team and finally a promotion in the Bundesliga. The team worked on the fluidity of the passes and the offensive combinations, which resulted in a domination of the ball in the match against Majorca. Fonseca took advantage of this meeting to give some players and young talent time to play, while maintaining a limited rotation from previous games. The goal is to regain an optimal level of play before the start of the Ligue 1 season, with a friendly match in Germany against Bayern Munich.
In parallel with the preparation of the friendly matches, OL Lyonnais players continue their recovery with a view to the return of the Premier League. After an internship in Dรฉcines, the team prepared to face the FC Servette in August, followed by a match against FC Nuremberg and a match against London City Lionesses. An internship in Germany is also planned to strengthen the preparation. The team expects a gradual return of several players who have participated in Euro 2025 and Copa Amรฉrica, hoping to find a full team for the start of the season in September.
