Tolisso: the Chaudron, his eternal executioner

The Chaudron, a Test Field for Corentin Tolisso: A Decisive Derby Facing the ASSE

This Sunday evening, Geoffroy-Guichard will host a new derby ASSE-OL, an appointment full of history and emotions. For Corentin Tolisso, this match has a particular dimension, marked by three painful experiences in the Chaudron.

On November 30, 2014, during his first appearance in the beating heart of Geoffroy-Guichard, the young Lyon midfielder experienced a nightmare. Led 2-0, the Lyons saw Renaud Cohade score the 3rd goal of the Greens, sealing a 3-0 defeat.

Two years later, in October 2016, Tolisso returned to Geoffroy-Guichard for a second derby. Despite a 2-0 win, the game will remain in the annals for the expulsion of Rachid Ghezzal, and the dangerous tab of Tolisso on Fabien Lemoine.

Finally, in his last pass in October 2017, OL expected to hold the game until a 1-0 win thanks to Soderlund, but a loss of Tolisso’s ball sealed his third consecutive loss to Saint-Étienne.

This Sunday, the ASSE dreamed of sinking a little more an OL weakened by his defeat in Manchester, and of prolonging Corentin Tolisso’s black series to Geoffroy-Guichard. The stakes are immense: can he finally conjure up the fate and silence the Chaudron, or will he live a new night of nightmare in the face of a Stéphanois public determined to remind him of his past setbacks? The answer is tonight, in a Chaudron that keeps shuddering Corentin Tolisso.
