Toulouse FC aims for success with wise recruitment and youth-centred strategy

The Toulouse Football Club, founded in 1937 and owned by RedBird Capital Partners, is led by Olivier Cloarec and coached by Carles Martinez Novell. The club moved to the Toulouse Stadium, with a capacity of 33,033 places, and can boast of a list of two Coupes de France (1957, 2023) and three Champion de Ligue 2 titles (1953, 1982, 2003). After a difficult period in the National in the early 2000s, the TFC managed to recover in Ligue 1, reaching its best ranking since returning to the elite with a 10th position. The summer of 2024 was marked by important departures such as Suazo, Gelabert and Aboukhlal, but also by the arrival of key players such as Cisoko and Hidalgo, strengthening the Argentine track of the club. Damien Comolli, who had contributed to the recovery of the club and the victory in the Coupe de France, left his position as president to join the Juventus de Turin.

The Toulouse Football Club’s strategy is based on the development of young talents from its training centre, such as Methalia, Canvot, Vossah and Edjouma, while integrating experienced and promising players. The arrival of Santiago Hidalgo, a young Argentine attacker recruited for 2.5 million euros, illustrates this desire to boost the attack. The current team, led by Carles Martinez Novell since 2023, started the season with a 1-0 win over Nice, after a difficult pre-season. The club also relies on the continuity of its recruitment model, relying on data analysis and player potential.

The next match of the Toulouse Football Club, opposing the club to Brest, will be arbitrated by Benoรฎt Millot, an experienced referee in Ligue 1. Millot has a historically unfavourable record with Brest, having arbitrated the club 22 times with only 4 wins, 5 draws and 13 defeats. The Toulouse team will therefore have to show resilience and defensive strength to hope for a positive result. The arbitrator will be assisted by Hicham Zakrani and Aurรฉlien Berthomeu, with Brendan Roofet as alternate arbitrator and Jรฉrรฉmie Pignard and Alexandre Castro at the VAR.
