OM news summary mercato (31 July 2025)
The Olympique de Marseille continues its summer mercato with several important movements. The arrival of Iggy Paixão, a young Brazilian winger from Feyenoord, is officialized for a record amount of 35 million euros, marking a major financial commitment for the club. This recruit is seen as an offensive reinforcement of quality, confirming OM’s ambition to project itself towards the future and compete with the great French clubs.
The transfer of Joel Ordóñez, a young Ecuadorian central defender from Bruges, is also imminent for about 32 million euros. This signature is seen as a focus on OM’s defensive potential, complementing the central hinge with Facundo Medina. OM was able to convince the player thanks to his sports project and the confidence of Roberto De Zerbi.
At the same time, OM formalized the return of Pierre-Emérik Aubameyang, who expressed his enthusiasm for reuniting with the club and working under the direction of De Zerbi. This offensive recruit reinforces the Marseille attack and offers a healthy competition with Amine Gouiri.
Finally, FC Nantes realizes an unexpected financial benefit thanks to the transfers of Valentin Rongier and Quentin Merlin to OM and Rennes. These movements, although generating mixed reactions among the Nantes supporters, represent an important financial opportunity for the club in the reconstruction phase, thanks to the training bonuses and negotiated redemption clauses.
