Caleta-Car controversial start at the club and uncertain future

Duje Caleta-Car, a defender of Olympique Lyonnais, left the club for a one-year loan to the Real Sociedad, leaving behind a farewell message to the Lyon fans. The latter, expressing gratitude for the support received and evoking highlights such as the Cup victory and accession to the Europa League, aroused a strong reaction from Sidney Govou, club legend. On social networks, Govou criticized the message, calling it a “complot marketing” orchestrated by a community manager and stressing the irrepertible nature of the Lyon experience for Caleta-Car. The Croatian international wore the OL jersey 57 times, contributing to several successes and leaving an imperishable memory to the fans.

At the same time, the OL reserve participated in the U21 European Tournament in Brittany, with mixed results. After an initial defeat against Rennes and another against Guingamp, the team managed to win its final game against Real Sociedad. The ranking matches saw OL’s reserve bow against Paris Saint-Germain, led by Jean-Franรงois Vulliez, former leader of the Lyon training centre. Despite this defeat, the team finished the tournament in 5th place. The team is now preparing for the start of the championship on August 23.

Finally, attention was drawn to John Textor, owner of Olympique Lyonnais, following a protest message posted by supporters in a friendly match against Bayern Munich. The message, denouncing “multi-ownership” and calling for Textor’s departure and the club’s independence, reflects the persistent tensions between the owner and his creditors. Michele Kanga took over from Eagle Football, adopting a policy diametrically opposed to Textor. Textor’s future at the club remains uncertain, and the situation is likely to settle in court.
