ASSE: Young talent and polemic Romeyer a future under construction

The AS Saint-Étienne continues to rely on the training and confidence given to young talent, as evidenced by the loan of the attacker Enzo Mayilla to Aubagne-Air Bel. After two consecutive tenures, the 19-year-old gradually won National 1, confirming his coach’s confidence. This loan is perceived positively by the Stéphanois club, which wants to offer it competitive playing time and observe its integration. At the same time, the club managed the departure of Benjamin Bouchouari, the Moroccan community being sold for 4 million euros, a financial operation considered interesting. The management relies on the stability of the group and the progression of young people to fill any gaps, with a careful look at the winter mercato to strengthen the interplay.

The Stéphanois team is preparing to face Clermont, an important game to assess the midfielder’s ability to maintain a constant level of play. Despite a potentially reduced composition in the midfield, the coach relies on the experience of players like Moueffek and Tardieu, as well as the enthusiasm of young people to build a collective balance. The lack of immediate reinforcements and the youth development strategy are assumed by the management, which focuses on building a strong future for the club. This approach, while risky, is part of the desire to restore a strong identity to ASSE, based on training and trusting young players.

At the same time, former ASSE President Roland Romeyer publicly denounced a criminal investigation alleging sexist harassment and contempt. Romeyer, who spent 32 years in the club including 20 as president, said he was deeply surprised and accused of post-departure harassment. He strongly contests the accusations, referring to a suspicious timing and aspiring to defend himself before the public prosecutor. The investigation, which dates back to a period prior to the club’s sale, is based on complaints from employees and anonymous testimony. This case arises when Romeyer wanted to withdraw peacefully from public life.
