Olympique Lyonnais strengthened its strength with the arrival of Pavel Sulc, a 24-year-old Czech offensive midfielder, after recruiting players such as Rayan Cherki and Tiago Almada. Sulc, who shone at Viktoria Plzen with 20 goals and 15 assists last season, is expected to bring an additional offensive dimension to the team. Its transfer, confirmed by the player himself on OLTV, is seen as a major asset for the Lyon project, with a promise to give everything on the ground. This recruit is part of a strategy to improve OL’s ability to make differences in offensive phases, whether by shooting or passing.
OL began the First League season with a promising schedule, including important matches against OM, Saint-Etienne and PSG, including two at home at OL Park. These meetings, including the shock against the GTP on 27 September, are expected to attract a wide audience. The arrival of Sulc also marks the departure of several players to other clubs, such as Korbi, Albertet, Marie-Antoinette Katoto and Ashley Lawrence, who returned to OL after six seasons and a visit to Chelsea. This mobility of players illustrates the dynamic nature of the transfer market and the opportunities offered by the OL owner group.
In parallel with these movements, OL tested Romain Perret in a prep match against a remodeled KV Mechelen. Despite a positive performance, the offensive community has not signed a professional contract with OL and is currently looking for another club. The preparation of the team continues with a friendly against Getafe before the official start of the championship on August 16, arbitrated by Romain Lissorgue. The team will build on the lessons learned from the previous season, especially after avoiding relegation in 2023/2024, to approach this new season with ambition.
