Coach Luis Enrique celebrated his 100th game on the bench of Paris Saint-Germain during the recent victory against Aston Villa (3-0), marking a significant milestone in the club’s history. He became the eleventh technician to reach this symbolic milestone since the creation of the Paris club, and the eighth since the arrival of Qatari investors. His career in the PSG has so far proved to be very successful, with an honorary record of seventy wins, nineteen draws and eleven defeats, illustrating a dynamic team with an average of 2.5 goals scored per game and a relatively strong defence.
On the national front, the Luis Enrique era was synonymous with indisputable domination, the PSG having won five titles since the beginning of the 2023 season, including a second consecutive League 1 title. The team posted a remarkable performance in the championship, winning nearly three out of four games, with an average of 2.6 goals per game. Nevertheless, the performances in the Champions League are in contrast, although the overall score is 52%, a figure influenced by particularly difficult group phases. The club finished fifteenth out of thirty-six in the last edition, demonstrating the challenges faced at European level.
Based on this course, Luis Enrique is now one of the few coaches to have led more than 100 games for the PSG, ranking third in terms of positive results among those who have reached this threshold. His contract, extended until 2027, offered him the opportunity to become the most caped coach in club history. Beyond this national success, he also distinguished himself in the European competition, showing a 64% victory rate in the Champions League, a higher figure than many other renowned coaches, and his experience and ambition to lead the PSG to new heights.
