Reims takes it to Lens despite the territorial domination of Lens

The game between RC Lens and Stade de Reims ended with a Rémois victory, marked by territorial domination by the Sangs and Gold, despite the outcome of the game. The Lens team exerted constant pressure on the opposing goal, showing significantly higher ball possession (70.4% vs. 29.6%) and a much higher number of goal opportunities (25 vs. 7). Despite this hegemony, the Rémois managed to exploit their few opportunities, notably thanks to a double of Nakaruma which allowed their team to take the advantage.

The tactical device of the two teams saw several changes during the meeting, with replacements made by the two coaches to try to change the course of the game. RC Lens included Ojediran, Pouilly and Said, while the Stade de Reims chose Sangui, Tia and Ibrahim. These substitutions, however, were not sufficient to alter the general trend of the game, marked by the offensive domination of Lens, illustrated by a large number of shots, centers and corners.

However, the meeting was also marked by disciplinary incidents, with the expulsion of the defender Medina from the Lens team, as well as the reception of a carton for coach Still. These events, coupled with an overall statistical record favourable to RC Lens (number of won duels, errors committed), underline the complexity of a meeting where territorial control was not enough to guarantee victory, the Stade de Reims imposing itself with pragmatism and efficiency.
