A young goaltender, eager to break into Portugal’s national team as Tiago Santos did in Lille, may well become the new recruit of the LOSC during the next mercato. According to information from Foot Mercato, the Lille club has recently given up recruiting Arnault Tenas (PSG) and has been actively interested in Ricardo Velho. The latter distinguished himself as one of the best guards in Liga Portugal, despite the relegation of his team, SC Farense, in second division.
Ricardo Velho would be very supportive of a transfer to LOSC, an ambitious club that could offer him the opportunity to join a team with several Portuguese compatriots already well established, such as Tiago Santos, Andrรฉ Gomes and Felix Correia. This perspective is particularly attractive for the goalkeeper, who hopes to facilitate his access to the Portuguese national team. The LOSC has historically attracted many Portuguese talents, such as Rafael Leรฃo, Renato Sanches and Josรฉ Fonte, and seems to continue along this path.
In parallel to this track, LOSC remains attentive to the situation of Dominik Greif, currently in Mallorca. The arrival of Ricardo Velho could therefore be part of a strategy to strengthen the defence sector of the LOSC, under the watchful eye of Olivier Lรฉtang. The next mercato days should shed light on Ricardo Velho’s future and on other potential LOSC movements.
