Bruno Genesio Defends the Quality of the French Training Despite the Reviews of Paulo Fonseca
Lille โ Bruno Genesio defended the French training after the recent statements of his former collaborator, Paulo Fonseca. The Lille technician highlighted the richness of the French talent pool, notably thanks to elements such as Lucas Chevalier, Carlos Baleba, Leny Yoro and Ayyoub Bouaddi, produced by the Domaine de Luchin and able to flourish at the highest level.
However, Paulo Fonseca had recently pointed to a lack of tactical rigour and learning of the game among young French players, regretting their tendency to favour freedom and play on the street.
Bruno Genesio recognized some truth in these criticisms, while stressing the importance of the work to be done. “It’s true and at least true, it’s valid in all countries,” he said. “We are one of the countries that exports the most young players abroad and to major clubs, which shows a certain talent, but also a know-how to develop it.”
The Lille technician stressed the need for support for trainers and educators, as well as the importance of developing game intelligence and player adaptation. “We can still say that French training is one of the best European formations, even if there are still things to improve,” he concluded, knowing in fact the progression of young talents like Ayyoub Bouaddi (17 years old). He thus reaffirmed his confidence in the young elements, a constant of his journey in Lille.
