Olympique Lyonnais appeals after match against Saint-Étienne

The hope is thin, but that tries nothing has nothing. Olympique Lyonnais filed an appeal with the organizing committee of the professional football league to ask not to record the final score between AS Saint-Étienne and Lyon during the match played last Sunday. Pending the decision of the Disciplinary Commission, the Lyon leaders do not take the result into account, the AFP announced.

Several meetings of Olympique Lyonnais were tainted by arbitral errors. The club calls for “awareness” and arbitration with “the most accurate” for the last four games of the championship, important in the race at the Champions League. However, frustration with Saint-Étienne will weigh mentally for some time. Between the play throwing marking a consistent stop in the encounter and the red card not granted to Lucas Stassin, the feeling of injustice persists.

OL also announced that some players were hit by coins during heating. In an appeal notified to the COC at the end of the game, the Lyons indicated that “the safety of its players was not guaranteed”. This element may not have been taken into account when deciding to resume the game.

Corentin Tolisso will be back in the Lyon group to face Stade Rennes this Saturday (21h05). According to information shared on Thursday by Paulo Fonseca, and confirmed by Fabrice Hawkins, Corentin Tolisso will be present in the Olympique Lyonnais group this Saturday for the reception of Rennes at the Groupama Stadium. The French midfielder should start the game on the bench, but his presence in the group is very good news for the Lyon fans who expected the worst after the player’s release on stretcher last Sunday.

Monday 28 April will mark a first at the Pavillon Dauphine in Paris. It will be the ninth award ceremony for individual trophies dedicated to the female football elite, but it is the first since the official launch of the Women’s Professional Football League on July 1, 2024. The event will begin at 9 p.m. and will be broadcast live on Canal+ Sport 360. The presenter of the Canal Football Club, Hervé Mathoux, will host this evening.

This ceremony will highlight many of the OL players who quickly positioned themselves in the first place of the regular phase of the First League this season. Their performance should therefore be rewarded on Monday. Who will succeed Tabitha Chawinga as the best player of the season? The former Parisian, now Lyonnaise, will see two of his teammates among the names: Melchie Dumornay and Lindsey Horan. The Haitian international is the second best scorer in the championship with 15 goals, behind Clara Mateo (19) of Paris FC who will be a major competitor.

For the goaltenders, Christiane Endler will try to recover her trophy won by Chiamaka Nnadozie last year. The technicians will also be honored and Joe Montemurro, OL coach, will be opposed to Sébastien Joseph (Dijon) whom he will meet in the play-off semifinal, and Sandrine Soubeyrand (Paris FC). We already know that other Rhodoan women will take place in the famous eleven of the year.
