Andrej Ilic: 180 degree turn at the Union Berlin
Ready with a LOSC option to purchase from the Union Berlin, Andrej Ilic recently broke the silence on his future. The 25-year-old seems ready to take the wind after experiencing difficult times when he was often on the bench or infirmary.
Steffen Baumgart’s arrival in the coaching position changed everything for Ilic. Baumgart, who played for the Union Berlin from 2002 to 2004 and was free of any contract since his departure from Hamburg last November, replaced Bo Svensson. Under his leadership, Ilic started playing regularly and scored a double in a historic match in the Bundesliga.
Ilic said that the first months in Berlin had been very difficult for him. He was not sure why he wasn’t playing and it deeply affected him. However, he is grateful that the club continued to believe in him despitable everything.
Currently, Ilic scored five goals in third appearances (708 minutes), making his future a topic for discussion in Germany. Although loaned with a purchase option, it could be lifted if Ilic’s performance continues to impress.
Jonathan David: Back to the foreground for LOSC
Author of a double and a decisive pass during the LOSC’s victory over AJ Auxerre (3-1) last Sunday, Jonathan David was congratulated by Ludovic Obraniak, former LOSC player.
Obraniak stressed that David’s performance was important to the LOSC as it allowed them to earn three additional valuable points in their podium fight. The club is currently fourth and is only two points from Olympique de Marseille (2nd).
Despite having trembled at times during the match, Jonathan David put an end to a shortage of more than a month by placing his 108th and 109th goals for the LOSC. Obraniak described David as a hybrid attacker who can play anywhere in the field. He also pointed out that David is one of LOSC’s most important players, with Benjamin André in recent years.
Ilic and David’s performances have been instrumental in their respective teams’ successs this season, and it will be interesting to see how their future unfold as the seasons come to an end.
