Rennes at the mercato two key objectives reinforcement attack and midfield

Stade Rennais is actively looking for a new attacker to replace Aimar Kaliouendo, and explores several avenues to meet this need. The most advanced cases concern Conrad Harder (Sporting), Esteban Lepaul (Angers), and potentially other profiles capable of evolving to several offensive positions. Interest in Harder seems to be particularly strong, with ongoing discussions and a possible compensation of EUR 20-25 million. At the same time, Rennes is negotiating with Angers for Lepaul, an estimated transfer of 15 million euros. Information was also reportedly taken on Matthis Ablin (Nantes) and Martin Terrier (Bayer Leverkusen), although these tracks did not progress significantly.

In addition to finding an attacker, the Breton club also focuses on strengthening its field environment. Jordan James, Welsh midfielder from Birmingham, seems to have lost his place in the team following the arrival of new players such as Seko Fofana, Djaoui Cisse, Valentin Rongier and Mahdhi Camara. A loan start with option to purchase to the Parma in Serie A is envisaged, but two Championship clubs, including the Wrexham, could also make an offer.

With less than ten days remaining at mercato, Rennes seems determined to close its two priority files. The situation is open and the club explores all options to strengthen its strength, both in the attack and in the midfield. The success of these operations will depend on the club’s ability to negotiate advantageous transfers and convince the targeted players to join Stade Rennais.
