The Olympique de Marseille is actively engaged in its summer mercato, with two main tracks that attract attention. The first concerns Joël Ordóñez, a young Ecuadorian defender of Club Brugge, whose club recently refused a first offer of 30 million euros. Bruges now claims 37.5 million euros for his player, but Ordóñez is eager to join OM, which hopes to negotiate an agreement in the coming days. This recruit would be a priority to strengthen the Marseille defence, which is the club’s main yard as the Champions League approaches.
At the same time, OM is stepping up its efforts to recruit Edon Zhegrova, a Kosovar winger of LOSC. The player, under contract until 2026, expressed his desire to leave Lille, and the president of the Lille club did not intend to retain him. Discussions between OM and LOSC are underway, and the player would be an offensive priority for Roberto De Zerbi, bringing direct competition on the right flank. OM is ambitious on the market and aims at young and promising profiles, compatible with the Italian coach’s project.
In addition to these two tracks, OM is also exploring the option of Brighton’s defender Igor Julio, who is familiar with Roberto De Zerbi’s collaboration in the Premier League. The Marseille staff appreciates their technical profile and combativity. These three tracks – Ordóñez, Julio and another Brighton target, Nayef Aguerd – are a priority for strengthening the defence of the Olympique de Marseille, which seeks to close its recruitment quickly.
