Bakwa Santos and Atanga: Racing strengthens for the future

The Racing Club in Strasbourg recently refused a third offer from Nottingham Forest for the young winger Dilane Bakwa, despite the respect of the amount initially desired by the English club. This situation illustrates Nottingham’s continued interest in the player, which remains a key element of the Alsatian club’s sporting project, especially because of his performance during the first two days of Ligue 1. Initially, Racing set a limit of 35 million euros (including bonuses) to free Bakwa, but this position seems to have evolved, and negotiations with Nottingham Forest are continuing actively, with rumours suggesting a new offer of 40 million euros. Racing’s final decision could be influenced by the result of its return of Champions League to Reims Stadium.

At the same time, the former Strasbourgian Andrey Santos, who returned to Chelsea after a loan, was summoned by the Brazilian national team’s selector, Carlo Ancelotti, for the international truce of September. This summons marks an important milestone in the midfielder’s career, which continues its international course after being a key player in Racing last season. He will compete in both FIFA World Cup qualifying games against Chile and Bolivia. This selection is part of a continuation of his international journey, with appearances during friendly gatherings and official selections in early 2023.

Finally, the Racing Club in Strasbourg joined the young French midfielder Valentin Atanga, aged 20, for a five-year contract. This recruit, who spent three seasons in Reims, arrives in Alsace after having passed his medical examination in London. His arrival represents the 16th recruit of the club and confirms his ambition to strengthen his staff. Despite the initial interest of Reims and other European clubs like AS Rome and Al-Ahli, an agreement was reached between the two clubs for the transfer of Atangana, which is now committed to the long term with Racing.
