The Racing Club in Strasbourg has completed its summer preparation programme for the new football season. The club is about to face the Sturm Graz in Austria in a friendly match scheduled for 6 August at the Merkur Arena in Graz. This meeting, formalized recently, will take place four days after the end of the Austrian internship and three days before the last training in Mainz. This last meeting is an important step in the preparation of the club before the start of the competition.
The club also announced the strengthening of its technical staff with the arrival of Filipe Coelho, 40 years old. He will join Liam Rosenior as an assistant coach, bringing significant experience gained especially from young people from Chelsea and Estoril. Coelho previously worked at the Benfica Lisbon Academy, where he was responsible for the U19. He has already participated in the first trainings with the Strasbourg team, quickly joining the group.
Finally, Racing officially signed the 19-year-old Belgian goaltender Mike Penders. Arriving on loan from Chelsea, he became the team’s number one goaltender after Djordje Petrovic left. Penders will join his team-mates in Bad Hรคring for the Austrian internship, and will be joined by other players loaned by Chelsea, including the offensive field Kendry Paez and central defender Mamadou Sarr. The arrival of these players is part of a strategy to strengthen the workforce for the new season.
