Marseille aims for success with an active mercato and a strengthened team

After a convincing 3-1 win over Aston Villa, Marseille Olympia coach Roberto De Zerbi stressed the importance of summer preparation and the need to strengthen the team. He confirmed that several movements are still expected in the transfer market, in particular to fill the left side position. De Zerbi expressed his satisfaction with the state of mind of his players, insisting on their serious attitude and their willingness not to relax until the Ligue 1’s recovery against Rennes.

The Italian coach specifically mentioned the upcoming arrival of a player in the left side position, pointing out that although Garcia, Murillo and Nadir can evolve there, he prefers offensive players like Rowe or Greenwood. The Marseille club remains very active in the transfer market, having already hosted Aubameyang, Paixão, Greenwood and Weah. At the same time, some departures are envisaged, including Jonathan Rowe, courted by other clubs, and Jeoffrey de Lange, followed by Lille.

This final phase of the mercato is therefore crucial to refine the workforce and guarantee the competitiveness of the Olympique de Marseille on all fronts, both in Ligue 1 and in the Champions League. De Zerbi has always focused on demand and internal competition, and this desire to fine-tune the team reflects the club’s ambition to stay high and compete with the best teams.
