The AS Saint-Étienne U19 team once again participates in the CariSport tournament, a major summer event in their season preparation. This year, the tournament, which takes place in early August in Maine-et-Loire, saw ASSE evolve in Group D, alongside two leading opponents: Olympique de Marseille and Stade Lavallois. This draw promises a phase of intense and high-level groups, bringing together three particularly ambitious young teams in football. The games took place at the Stade de Beaupréau, a familiar place for the previous meetings of the team.
The first game was against the Greens at the Stade Lavallois. In the face of a well-organized and resilient team, ASSE had to show patience to finally win a penalty transformed by Sonny Yvarsa in the last few minutes. This 1-0 win, well deserved, testifies to the strength and effectiveness of the team in crucial moments. The game proved to be balanced for a large part, with both sides neutralizing each other.
The second game of the day saw ASSE face the Olympique de Marseille. After a promising start to the game, the team suffered a turnaround after the expulsion of Abu Traoré, sanctioned by two yellow cards. In numerical inferiority, the Greens conceded two goals in three minutes, finally bowing to the 0-2 score. This defeat, though logical, is due to a lack of discipline on the part of the players.
