Crude Defeat for MHSC: L的OM Breaks the Sand Shot

After a match dominated by the Olympique de Marseille, the Montpellier HSC suffered an overwhelming defeat (5-1) on the 30th day of Ligue 1. This new defeat, the 11th consecutive for the men of Zoumana Camara, propels them even closer to relegation in Ligue 2.

The game, played on the Lawn of the Stade Vélodrome, started disastrously for the MHSC. As early as the 8th minutes, Mason Greenwood had opened the score on penalty, before the attacker doubled the bet at the 60th minute, thanks to a beautiful projection of Amir Murillo. In the 69th minute, the attack continued, and Greenwood released the Stade Vélodrome from an unstoppable cross-strike. Jonathan Rowe’s entry into play at the 74th minute did not change anything: the French striker scored an opportunity goal at the 74th minute, then at the 83rd minute, Lucas Mincarelli managed to save the honour. Finally, at the 90th minute, Adrien Rabiot concluded the Marseillais’ wide victory.

Zoumana Camara, visibly disappointed, stressed the importance of analysis and concentration for the team. “We have to look at it with rest and analyze, it’s important. We were in what we wanted to do, in the game plan. We knew we wouldn’t have control of the ball, but the idea was to stay in touch and, at recovery, touch our highest players.” The Hérault coach admitted that the second half reflected a team in physical loss of speed.

Despite this defeat, the MHSC was able to see an upsurge in activity, marking its first goal since February 16, which was seven games in total.

The Montpellier HSC, with 15 points on the counter, continues to fight for its survival in Ligue 1, hosting the Stade de Reims in its next home game on Sunday 26 February (17:15).
