Barcola: extension of contract to PSG, shadow of Kvaratskhelia

According to information disclosed by L’Équipe, Paris Saint-Germain initiated negotiations on an extension of Bradley Barcola’s contract. Nevertheless, the player shows some reluctance and questions following the arrival of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, a situation that complicates the discussions. Barcola became a central element of the team following the departure of Kylian Mbappé, achieving a remarkable season, displaying an impressive record of 18 goals and 16 assists from all competitions, thus consolidating his role in the Parisian club despite three years of contract still to be honoured.

The presence of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, evolving in a role similar to that of Barcola, seems to be a determining factor in the player’s hesitation. In accordance with a directive introduced by Luis Campos, the club has taken the habit of not starting negotiations for an extension until the end of the second season. Bradley Barcola will have to wait until the post-Coupe du Monde des Clubs period (mid-July) to receive a concrete proposal from Paris Saint-Germain, following the examples of Nuno Mendes, Vitinha and Ashraf Hakimi who recently extended their commitment.

Pending this formal offer, the player chose to remain cautious and defer any decision until the end of the season. Internal sources at the club report that, although he has sometimes expressed some frustration, notably regarding Luis Enrique’s tactical guidelines or the arrival of Kvaratskhelia, Bradley Barcola preferred to adapt. He now aspires to receive a clear sign from the Parisian club, particularly in terms of remuneration, his current gross monthly salary of €550,000 no longer reflecting his current status within the team.
