The Olympique de Marseille continued its summer recruitment with the arrival of Igor Paixão, a 25-year-old Brazilian winger, signed for five seasons. Coming from Feyenoord Rotterdam, Paixão experienced a staggering progression, winning the Dutch Championship, the Netherlands Cup and Johan Cruyff Shield in 2024. He was also named “Dutch Footballer of the Year” in 2025, giving him a pre-selection for the Brazilian national team. This recruit is part of the club’s strategy to develop a young and talented workforce.
At the same time, OM is stepping up its efforts to strengthen its defence, in particular with the potential recruit of Joel Ordóñez, a central defender of Bruges estimated at 30 million euros. This 21-year-old Ecuadorian player, who wanted to join Marseille, would be linked to the club until 2030. The arrival of Ordóñez is part of a desire to build a strong workforce capable of meeting the demands of Roberto De Zerbi. Alternative tracks have been explored, but the club now seems focused on this option.
Finally, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, returning to OM, stressed that his choice to return was motivated by his personal attachment and confidence in Roberto De Zerbi. He said he was ready to team up with Amine Gouiri and hoped to lead the club to new summits, especially in the Champions League. Although he is not available for the next match against Aston Villa, he says he is physically and mentally ready to meet the challenges ahead.
