Hervé Koffi’s transition to RC Lens was not conclusive. Originally recruited to replace Brice Samba, whose departure was finally cancelled, the Burkinabè goaltender quickly found himself in the Will Still era. This situation is all the more frustrating because he had been hired by the previous management, led by Arnaud Pouille. Mathew Ryan’s arrival as number one further complicated his position, forcing him to a difficult waiting period.
Faced with this situation, Hervé Koffi was lent to Angers SCO for the end of the season, a decision which he welcomed with relief. He did not hesitate to express his disappointment with his experience at Lens, highlighting the frustrations and personal issues related to his number two status after having held several seasons. He made it clear that this loan was the best solution for him, offering him time to play and the opportunity to continue to make progress.
Despite the difficulties encountered, Koffi acknowledges that this experience has brought him a lot of learning and maturity. He stressed the importance of prudence and distrust in the world of football, while recognizing the support of some people who helped him to remotivate himself. He considers his visit to the RC Lens as a valuable source of experience, despite the personal disappointments he may have felt.
