LOSC: pressure maintained despite defeat

LOSC maintains pressure in Ligue 1 despite defeat against AJ Auxerre

The LOSC suffered a 3-1 defeat against AJ Auxerre on the thirtieth day of Ligue 1, played on Sunday at the Décathlon Arena – Stade Pierre Mauroy. Despite this defeat, coach Christophe Pélissier remains optimistic about his team’s chances of fighting for the podium.

AJ Auxerre took the lead with a goal against his Alexsandro camp (90+2′) before the LOSC responded. However, the Lille defensive errors allowed the Auxerre to double the brand.

Christophe Pélissier expressed his dissatisfaction with these mistakes, stressing that the team had “subied” actions that it should have mastered, including attacks based on long play and rapid transitions. He also stressed the importance of a high-level game in terms of intensity and concentration, which his team did not fully realize.

The Lille coach acknowledged that he had anticipated the LOSC strategy, including the combined use of Chuba Akpom and Jonathan David, considering that these players could be complementary and able to make differences. He praised Jonathan David’s defensive efforts and the “huge qualities” of the opposing team.

With this victory, AJ Auxerre rose to fourth place in the standings with 53 points. The LOSC held fourth with 53 points, one point from AS Monaco (3rd) and two points from Olympique de Marseille (2nd). Christophe Pélissier felt that the AJ Auxerre was a team “that can pull its pin from the game” at the end of the season, highlighting the offensive qualities of his team and its ability to make differences on stopped kicks. He acknowledged that the fight for European places was fierce, with other teams able to fight for the podium.
