The past week has been marked by significant changes within the Nice GOC and the rival club, the Nice GOC. The major event concerns the imminent departure of Jean-Pierre Rivère, President of the GOC Nice, after 14 years of service. He officially announced his departure, which will take effect on 20 August, and will be replaced by Fabrice Bocquet, the club’s current general manager since 2022. JPR expressed gratitude to those who accompanied him and said that it was serene about the future of the club.
On the mercato side, OGC Nice is actively pursuing its reinforcements. After three first recruits, the club formalized the arrival of Isaac Jansson, a Swedish wingman from Rapid Vienna in Austria. This recruit is supposed to reinforce the offensive lines of the Nice team, the operation amounting to 7 million euros, potentially reaching 10 million euros with the bonuses. Florian Maurice, Nice sports director, stressed that the mercato had not yet been completed, with movements planned until the end of August, with the aim of forming a team ready to perform quickly.
Finally, several departures are being negotiated. Gaëtan Laborde is expected to join Al-Diraiyah Saudi club for an allowance of 4 million euros. Rare Iliu was loaned to Empoli, Serie B, with a purchase option. In addition, Victor Orakpo was loaned to Montpellier without purchasing option, in order to continue his progression in Ligue 1. These movements reflect intense behind-the-scenes activity to shape the Nice GOC’s workforce for the new season.
