The ASSE scored a 3-3 draw in Laval during the season’s recovery, an encouraging result given the difficulties encountered by the team after a turbulent mercato. The team, led by Eirik Horneland, faced numerous absences and the adaptation of new recruits, but showed increased intensity and combativeness compared to the previous season. Despite persistent weaknesses in physical preparation and individual defence errors, the team has demonstrated formidable offensive weapons, with three different scorers and promises from young players like Boadye and Old. Horneland is measured, highlighting the difficulty of the first encounters and the potential for collective progress.
The new management of ASSE has placed the development of the training structure at the heart of its project, a decision that has been a decisive factor in the purchase of the club by KSV. The training centre, considered one of the best in France, benefits from significant resources and will see continuous investments to improve the skills of young players. Innovative tools such as virtual reality are already used to develop information capture and game analysis. The aim is to integrate these game principles, inspired by Horneland’s approach (high pressing, aggressive counterpressing, intensity, speed in transitions), into all sections of the center.
This season is crucial for the Robert Herbin training centre, with a desire to improve performance and align with the vision of the new club. Investment in training is accompanied by financial support for the first team, in the hope of building a collective able to dominate League 2. Despite the current shortcomings, this draw in Laval represents a positive first step towards a strategic placement in the top of the rankings, thanks to a favourable schedule and the hope of finding a full staff. The site is still open, but the base is in place to transform talent into a strong collective.
