New era for women's ASSE ambition and reconstruction

The women’s ASSE is engaged in a profound restructuring of its team for the 2025-2026 season in Arkema First League. After a difficult 2024-2025 season, the club saw several iconic players leave the club, including Maryne Gignoux, Cindy Caputo, Sarah Stratigakis, Solène Champagnac and Fiona Bogi. In order to bring about a new dynamic, the management entrusted the team’s responsibility to Sébastien Joseph, former DFCO coach, with the aim of building a competitive team. Eleven new recruits have already been integrated, including strengthening the defensive, midfield and attack sectors. The recent arrival of 18-year-old Canadian attacker Nikolina Istocki is particularly promising, supporting the offensive and embodying the club’s desire to build on youth and potential.

In parallel with these sporting changes, ASSE can be pleased that its match against FC Annecy, scheduled for 24 October, is going well at Parc des Sports, despite a delay in the modernization of the stadium. The construction site, designed to equip the club with an infrastructure that complies with the Ligue 2 standards, however, faces technical difficulties, particularly in the delivery of the lighting masts. This setback forced FC Annecy to relocate its game against Laval, originally scheduled for October 3. The work, while progressing, is experiencing uncertainties related to supply delays, affecting the organization of meetings.

Despite these logistical complications for FC Annecy, the game against ASSE will take place well in the renovated stadium. ASSE will benefit from a high quality lawn and a large reception. This reflects the commitment of the Stéphanois club to rebuild and regain its place in Ligue 2. The arrival of Nikolina Istocki and the confirmation of the match place against Annecy are positive signs for the future of the team and its supporters.
