"OL could replace its CEO before the end of the season"

L’Olympique Lyonnais could soon separate from its general manager, Laurent Prud’homme, according to L’Équipe’s information. This decision could take place before the end of the current season.

The replacement of Santiago Cucci by Laurent Prud’homme at the head of OL in November 2023 was perhaps not intended to last as long as planned. Indeed, internal tensions have been reported between the Director General and Eagle’s management, particularly with John Textor, who wants strictly administrative and financial management.

However, Laurent Prud’homme has moved closer to the sports sector and OL supporters, which seems to have created some tension within the club. This internal tension was widely commented on on RMC radio, where LOSC was taken as an example by Florent Gautreau.

According to him, the organization of the LOSC allows a clear and common communication from the whole management, something that would not be really present at Olympique Lyonnais. He believes that when functions and power are delegated, as is the case in Lille with Olivier Létang, there is a unity of discourse and very interesting communication.

Florent Gautreau believes that when power is shared between several people, it can create governance problems. He stressed that presidents who were no longer present locally or on a daily basis posed a real problem in that area.

In short, Olympique Lyonnais could face governance problems with the possible departure of its managing director before the end of the season. Internal tensions have been reported between Laurent Prud’homme and Eagle’s management, particularly with John Textor who wants strictly administrative and financial management. However, it is important to note that this information comes from unofficial sources and should therefore be taken with caution.
