The Olympique de Marseille revived its European hopes by winning a brilliant victory over Montpellier (5-1), which took last place in the championship. At home, the Marseillais took advantage of the weakness of the opponent to impose themselves without difficulty, despite some imperfections in the collective performance.
Ulisses Garcia, OM’s Swiss side, expressed frustration after seeing a goal cashed, stressing that “every time we win 3-4 to zero, we still get one goal”. He also welcomed the good season of Geronimo Rulli, goaltender of the OM, and the goal of playing 0 for the whole defense.
Despite the victory, the MHSC, already almost condemned to relegation, lacked opposition. A goal against Montpellier once again illustrates the lack of defensive strength of the Phocรฉans.
However, Ulisses Garcia stressed the team’s satisfaction with winning second place, a crucial goal for the last four games of the season. “We always have this clear goal of qualifying for the Champions League we want to finish as high as possible, that is, 2nd so we are very happy today to recover this 2nd place and I hope that we will continue on these 4 games that we have left.
The Olympique de Marseille will now have to follow in order to achieve its objective: qualification in the Champions League. The next challenge comes next week with the reception of Stade Brestois, an opponent fighting for a European place.
