The Disciplinary Commission of the Professional Football League issued this Wednesday the sanctions following the incidents on the 31st day of Ligue 1. Among the players targeted, Bafodé Diakité and Benjamin André received suspensions. The match between Angers and the LOSC was marked by a rain of yellow cards, with six players sanctioned: Bafodé Diakité (18′, 67′), Matias Fernandez-Pardo (57′), Thomas Meunier (58′), Yassine Belkhdim (61′) and Benjamin André (82′). The two players from Lille, Bafodé Diakité and Benjamin André, will be absent during the trip to Brest on May 10. Defenseman Diakité is suspended for a hard match, while Captain André is punished for accumulating yellow cards.
At the Brestois Stadium, players Pierre Lees-Melou and Brendan Chardonnet will also be absent for the same reason. In all, four tapers will miss the call at this crucial meeting.
The National Directorate of Management Control has reminded Ligue 1 and Ligue 2 clubs to no longer rely on previous revenues such as TV rights and transfers in their annual budgets. The DNCG, represented by Jean-Marc Mickeler, wants to prevent the club’s accounts from “driving” year after year. The two main demands of the DNCG are that clubs stop including unrealistic sales in their forecast budget and drastically reduce their payroll. The situation is considered “structural” by the DNCG, which fears that not all clubs will be able to complete or even begin next year (2025-2026).
