Montpellier breaks a disturbing defense record

MHSC faces OM at the Vélodrome, but breaks an alarming record

Velodrome – This Saturday night, the Montpellier HSC faced Olympique de Marseille in a match on the 30th day of Ligue 1. Unfortunately for the men of Zoumana Camara, the meeting resulted in a 5-1 defeat, and even more in the breaking of a particularly worrying record.

By the 8th minute, Mason Greenwood had given Marseillais the advantage on penalty. The MHSC, currently a red lantern in the championship and without a win for ten games, matched a staggering stat. Indeed, the Montpellinois club has still not managed to achieve the least clean sheet this season, thus equaling the record held by Toulon since the 1959-1960 season. With 67 goals conceded, Montpellier is officially the worst defense of Ligue 1 this season.

OM’s composition, led by Roberto De Zerbi, included Rulli, Murillo, Kondogbia, Garcia, Henrique, Hojbjerg (Captain), Rongier, Merlin, Greenwood, Rabiot and Gouiri. The MHSC, meanwhile, aligned Lecomte (Captain), Ndollo Bille, Omeragic, Mouanga, Mincarelli, Sainte-Luce, Ferri, Nzingoula, Country, Ndiaye, Coulibaly.

The MHSC situation is critical, with prospects for relegation becoming increasingly darker. The performance against OM, despite some moments of play, was not enough to avoid this new defeat and this alarming record.
