Meny and Camara potentially leaving for Montpellier challenges

As his contract with SM Caen came to an end in 2026, French striker Alexandre Mendy would be particularly interested in the MHSC project. The Montpelliérain club aims to quickly conclude an agreement with the Norman club, a step facilitated by the recent relegation of the SM Caen in the National. This departure seems inevitable for Mendy, who has been in Normandy since 2020, and follows the interest expressed by Watford, an English club that would have offered a million euros for the player. This offer, however, was denied by Foot Mercato, opening a new path for MHSC. The sports newspaper reports that the MHSC has intensified its efforts to reach agreement with the Caen club, seduced by the reconstruction project proposed by Montpellier.

At the same time, the MHSC is about to lose another promising young talent: Abdoulaye Camara, a French international midfielder. After a difficult season in Ligue 2, the young player should join Udinese in Italy, after being courted by Juventus Turin or Bundesliga clubs. This start represents a hard blow for Montpellier, which must already manage the pressure of its evolution in the second division. The team, under the direction of Zoumana Camara, will have to find quick solutions to compensate for this loss, especially in terms of midfield.

Abdoulaye Camara, the recent captain of the Blues at Euro U17, feels convinced that Italy is the best choice for the rest of her career, both in terms of sport and personal progress. His departure underlines the need for the MHSC to continue investing in the training and recruitment of young talent in order to maintain a high level of competition in Ligue 2. This situation highlights the challenges the club faces and the importance of finding innovative solutions to ensure its sustainability.
