Lyon focuses on youth and the experience for the future

Olympique Lyonnais strengthened its summer staff with the arrival of two young English talents, Tyler Morton and Pavel Šulc, respectively from Liverpool and Viktoria Plzen. These recruits are expected to make their debut in the friendly match against Getafe on Saturday, August 18. OL is part of a recruitment policy focused on youth and potential, with a total investment of 31 million euros, ranking among the most expensive Ligue 1 clubs. This strategy is part of the financial rigour imposed by the DNCG, limiting spending compared to clubs such as Strasbourg or Marseille. Despite these constraints, OL continues to seek reinforcements, including a goaltender and an additional attacker.

The situation within the club is also marked by uncertainty about Slovenian guard Domiink Greif, courted by OL and Lille. His absence from training could be related to pain in the left leg, but also to an attempt to pressure the steering to facilitate his departure. This situation comes as OL seeks to replace Lucas Perri, who left in Leeds, and Lille prepares for the loss of Lucas Chevaelier. OL seems to have the advantage in this competition, as the player prefers to join the Gaul capital.

OL’s history is marked by legends, including Lisandro López, who marked the club’s history with 168 appearances and 82 goals. Its arrival in 2009, for a record amount of 24 million euros, was a real boost for the team. He had many successes, including qualifying in the Champions League and winning in the Coupe de France in 2012. OL continues to invest in the future, with young players like Morton and Šulc, while maintaining a commitment to its history and roots. OL also has a tradition of welcoming English players, with Morton becoming the fourth Englishman to wear the Lyon jersey.
