The shock between Olympique de Marseille (OM) and Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) promises to be a key moment of the season for OM. The team received a boost with the return of Nayef Aguerd, a central defender, after a concussion protocol. His return is crucial to strengthen the Marseille defence against the PSG offensive. Coach Roberto De Zerbi will have to decide between titulariser Aguerd or keep Facundo Medina, while Godfrey Kondogbia and Hamed Traorรฉ will be absent. The composition of the team remains uncertain, notably in left side defence, with Emerson Palmieri and Amir Murillo competing. The match could also be disrupted by adverse weather conditions, with announced thunderstorms, allowing the possibility of a postponement.
At the same time, relations between OM and FC Nantes have deteriorated considerably. Tensions between Presidents Pablo Longoria and Waldemar Kita are now open, with lively exchanges at the last board of the Professional Football League (LFP). These tensions are fuelled by several files, including Longoria’s statements to Auxerre, Kita family management, and contractual disputes related to transfers of players such as Mattis Abline, Quentin Merlin and Valentin Rongier. Nantes refused any negotiation following an approach considered disrespectful of OM regarding Abline.
Outside the field, OM is preparing a cohesion course in Rome, following the successful experiences of previous years. The club and the PSG continue their preparations until the authorities decide on the match. The final decision on postponing the 6th day of Ligue 1 could be taken at the last moment, depending on the intensity of the storms. Despite OM’s efforts to maintain good relations with the other Ligue 1 clubs, the situation with Nantes seems to be permanently weakened by these sports and financial disputes.
