The fifth day of Racing in Austria focused on a unique training, which took place in 19 degrees and brought together 27 players in the field. The team was composed of key players like Johnsson, Penders, and Sarr, with a notable absence of Barco, Doué, and others. An important event of the day was the return of Mamadou Sarr to Strasbourg, after his official signature. Mike Penders, although present, participated in few exercises due to persistent pain in the shoulder. The session revolved around warm-up, athletic exercises without balloons, and moving passes, before focusing on recovery from the back.
The game then turned into an 11-11 opposition, focusing on the game from the goaltender and central defenders. The opposing team adopted a tight individual marking to limit spaces, before opening as the ball progressed. Coach Liam Rosenior regularly interrupted the session to correct the placement of the players and give individual instructions, especially highlighting Joaquin Panichelli’s talent as a midfielder. A quarter-field opposition followed, with the integration of six field players to support possession and create spaces.
The session ended with shooting exercises, with players trying to imitate Demba Diop’s floating strikes. The general atmosphere remained relaxed and friendly. In the afternoon, a ten-minute interview was conducted with Mathis Amougou, addressing his arrival at the club, profile, vision of football and motivations. Despite his teammates’ attempts to make him smile, the new midfielder was focused on the questions asked, the content of which will soon be revealed.
