OM fragile: Perquis paints a dark portrait of the Marseille team

In an uncompromising analysis, former international defender Damien Perquis recently delivered a severe diagnosis regarding the current situation of Olympique de Marseille, during his intervention on RMC on the program After Foot. As the race in the European squares intensified to four days at the end of the championship, and Paris Saint-Germain has already strengthened its title as champion of France, Mr.Perquis expressed his doubts about the OM’s ability to stand in the lead. He pointed out a lack of dynamism, both sporting and mental, even suggesting a potential loss of control of the coach, Gennaro De Zerbi, on his group, contrary to what seems to prevail in Lyon and Lille.

The former player pointed to a “catastrophic” defense as the main obstacle to the search for a second place, despite a favourable calendar. He deplored the absence of defensive reinforcements during the winter mercato, thus aggravating structural fragility. In addition, Mr. Perquis highlighted an offensive lack of efficiency, contributing to a negative spiral. This pessimistic assessment suggests a team in difficulty, unable to capitalize on opportunities.

Finally, considering the weaknesses shown by Olympique de Marseille, Damien Perquis believes that Monaco and Olympique Lyonnais have stronger arguments to claim second place behind Paris Saint-Germain. These two teams, despite the start of the season marked by irregularity, managed to regain a positive dynamic and balance in their game, giving them a definite advantage in the race in European places.
