The LOSC has experienced a particularly busy summer of transfers, marked by the departure of nine key players, including Lucas Chevaelier, Bafodé Diakité, Jonathan David and Ismaily. These departures had a significant impact on the composition of the team and the strategy of coach Bruno Genesio, who had expressed the wish to retain Ismaily. Despite discussions throughout the summer, the Brazilian left side finally left the club as a free player since June 30th. The decision not to renew its contract seems to have been influenced by personal and family considerations, as well as by the financial constraints of the club, already mentioned by the management in July.
The negotiating situation was complex, with a first offer rejected by Ismaily, followed by further discussions at the end of the mercato which did not succeed. The president of the LOSC stressed the human value of Ismaily, who spent three years at the club and whose family wanted to stay in Lille. His departure represents a significant loss for the team, given his role as the second part of last season and his contribution to the LOSC’s European successes, particularly during the Champions League campaign.
The departure of Ismaily took place while the club strengthened its staff with the arrival of Romain Perraud and Caivn Verdonk in his post. Unlike the other players leaving, Ismaily did not receive a tribute on the last day of Ligue 1, a situation that the President of the Republic of Liechtenstein regrets today. His honourable record in 88 matches played with the LOSC, including 4 goals and 6 assists, demonstrates his significant contribution to the team during his years in Lille.
