The Olympique de Marseille had initially shown a keen interest in Johan Bakayoko, the winger of the PSV Eindhoven. This young Belgian player, only 22 years old, had achieved a convincing season in the Netherlands, with 12 goals and 3 assists in 47 matches in all competitions. Its profile, characterized by its speed, technique and ability to create differences in small spaces, perfectly matched the expectations of the Marseille staff, eager to strengthen their wings for the 2025/26 season. The Bakayoko file was therefore a priority for OM, in its willingness to support Mason Greenwood in particular in attack.
However, the interest of the Olympique de Marseille for Johan Bakayoko seems to fade. The Phocรฉan club, now focused on strengthening its offensive sector, has shifted its research towards other tracks. This disengagement could benefit AS Monaco, which is already very active in the transfer market. The Principality’s club recently completed its strength with the arrival of Paul Pogba and Ansu Fati, two young players with high potential, as well as with the integration of Eric Dier from Bayern Munich.
According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Monaco closely monitors the situation of Magnes Akliouche and envisages a possible departure of this young French talent. In the event of its transfer, Monegasque leaders identified Johan Bakayoko as their priority in filling the offensive corridor. Although under contract with the VSP until 2026, Bakayoko is not expected to leave at an affordable price, with an estimated value of 30 million euros. Borussia Dortmund would also be interested, adding competition to this already complex case. OM now seems to be out of the race, and Monaco could do a major blow on the transfer market this summer.
