The Gones in number for the Derby against the Asse, despite the stadium ban
Several thousand Lyon fans, the Gones, gathered today at the training centre to demonstrate their support for the team before the derby hit against the AS Saint-รtienne. The event, which takes place as part of the 30th day of Ligue 1, is a crucial moment for the Rhodanian club.
The company travels to Geoffroy-Guichard to face its historic rival. This match is particularly important for the Lyons, who are looking to remobilize after a painful elimination in the Europa League. Last Thursday, OL was largely dominated by Manchester United in Old Trafford, finally tilting 5-4 after extension, despite a moment of domination when they even led 2-4.
Despite this bitter defeat, the spirit of the Lyon supporters was intact. They flocked in large numbers to the training centre, brandishing smoke, scarves, and displaying anti-Stephanese songs. The goal was to motivate Paulo Fonseca players. At the end of the training, the players took the time to thank their fans for their support, and some, like Ryan Cherki, even offered autographs.
However, this mobilization is all the more poignant as the Lyon supporters are banned from the stage for this derby. A prefectural order was put in place, which means that the Gones will not be able to attend the meeting in Geoffroy-Guichard on 20 April 2025 at 8:45 pm, arbitrated by F. Letexier.
For its part, the Saint-รtienne AS also organized a training open to the public, attracting more than 7,000 Green supporters. The tension is therefore at its peak upstream of this historic derby.
