Kilmer Sports Ventures announced an unprecedented capital increase of over €31 million, highlighting its long-term commitment to ASSE. This transaction, confirmed by a recently obtained document, brings ASSE’s share capital from €2.3 million to over €33 million, an increase of more than 14 times its original value. This initiative, officially validated by the board of ASSE Group, marks a major financial turning point for the club and confirms the transformation strategy initiated since its acquisition in 2024. This is part of a desire to sustain Kilmer’s commitment, which had already injected EUR 21 million last December as a repayable advance, and then added an additional EUR 10 million to turn these funds into permanent capital.
This increase in capital comes in a difficult economic context for French clubs, particularly because of the uncertainty regarding TV rights. The ASSE, by strengthening its financial structure, provides the means to build a stable economic model that is less dependent on TV revenues. According to one expert, the transformation of the advance into capital is a long-term investment signal, as this money can no longer be withdrawn as was the case with an advance or loan. This new financial base will enable ASSE to continue its structural investments, such as the development of the Robert-Herbine sports centre, the creation of a performance unit and the acquisition of commercial rights from Sportfive.
By strengthening its financial structure, Kilmer Sports Ventures aims to arm ASSE to face future economic difficulties and build a sustainable project, even in Ligue 2. This increase in capital is the foundation for sound financial management and the ability to invest in the transfer market. Although the club can be strengthened at the next summer mercato, the payroll and transfer envelopes will be controlled, favouring a prudent and sustainable approach rather than a madness of spending. The objective is to demonstrate a real ability to invest in the market while maintaining long-term financial stability.
