Olympique Lyonnais secures major financial support with Emirates until 2030

In a delicate financial context, Olympique Lyonnais managed to secure an important partnership with the airline Emirates. The club, which faces a debt in excess of EUR 100 million, is actively seeking solutions to strengthen its finances. This week, OL announced excellent news: its partnership with Emirates, which was due to expire in June, was extended until 2030.

The airline currently pays around โ‚ฌ20 million a year to OL to display on the Lyon jersey. With this new five-year contract, the club secures a financial contribution of about 100 million euros.

Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, continues its partnership with Olympique Lyonnais, one of the most emblematic clubs in the French championship. The company will continue to sponsor the club’s jersey for five additional seasons, until the end of the 2029-2030 season.

Emirates’ famous “Fly Better” logo will be present on OL match and training jerseys during Ligue 1 and European matches, until 30 June 2030. The agreement also includes high brand visibility in the Groupama Stadium, as well as places for hospitality, player access, marketing, advertising and digital rights.

Emirates will also continue its actions with OL with young fans, offering them memorable experiences as Escort Kids before home matches. Last year, the company collaborated with local structures such as the Lรฉon Bรฉrard Centre and the Mother Child Women’s Hospital to offer more than 23 children the opportunity to enter the field hand in hand with the players.

Paulo Fonseca calmly addresses criticism after OL defeats

Recently, Paulo Fonseca returned to the criticisms surrounding his tactical choices after OL’s defeats against AS Saint-ร‰tienne and Manchester United. After these setbacks, the Portuguese coach’s tactical choices were widely criticized. However, Fonseca remains faithful to its philosophy and calmly addresses this media treatment.

During his press conference before the trip to Strasbourg, he spoke to clarify his position on the critics: “We must accept criticism, it is normal in football. If we don’t want to be criticized, we don’t have to do this job. When you win, everything’s fine, and when you lose, everything goes wrong. We have to keep a balance. We need to learn from difficult times, but also from good times. It’s not because we win that everything is perfect, or the other way around. We have to move on.”

The match against Rennes: a challenge for OL after a difficult week

This Saturday at 9:05 p.m., the OL Park is expected to surpass the 50,000 spectators present for the arrival of Stade Rennais. The men of Paulo Fonseca will have to recover from a European failure against Manchester United (5-4) and the derby lost against ASSE (2-1).

Stade Rennais represents a dangerous opponent, thanks in particular to its recovery under the leadership of Habib Beye, the successor of Jorge Sampaoli on the bench. The Breton players won 3 of their last 4 games, including the derby against Nantes last week (2-1). This ascending form
