OM mercato summer : Weah and Aguard priority

The Olympique de Marseille (OM) is active in the transfer market for the summer of 2025, with several concrete tracks and important names targeted. One of the priorities is strengthening the attack, with a strong interest in Timothy Weah, the winger of the Juventus and the American team. Fabrizio Romano reports that OM checked his name and that the Juventus would be open to his departure, a point that could facilitate negotiation. Weah’s profile, versatile and able to play in multiple positions on the wings or in “piston”, fits perfectly with the tactical vision of the new coach, Roberto De Zerbi. In addition, his experience in Ligue 1, acquired during his visit to LOSC, would be a valuable asset for rapid adaptation.

At the same time, OM is mobilizing to strengthen its defence. Nayef Aguerd, Morocco’s central international defender of West Ham, is a privileged target of De Zerbi. However, competition is strong, with the interest of European clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, Real Sociedad and Atalanta Bern. The Atalanta, newly qualified for the Champions League, could have sporting arguments to convince the player. The OM will therefore have to be convincing and quick to seize this trail. For its part, the arrival of Facundo Medina, recruited for 22 million euros, is seen as a major asset for the stability and tactical flexibility of the Marseille defence.

Medina’s integration is part of De Zerbi’s strategy, which favours possession football and dynamic movements. Francck Haise, former Medina coach at RC Lens, highlights his versatility and ability to evolve in defence four or three. This flexibility, combined with his Ligue 1 experience and physical impact, makes him a promising player for OM. Together with Leonardo Balerdi and Georgeronimo Rulli, Medina could form a strong and powerful defensive trio for the coming season. OM is therefore stepping up efforts to consolidate its workforce and meet De Zerbi’s requirements.
