Olympique de Marseille (OM) is about to reach its goal for the season: to qualify for the Champions League. However, having achieved this goal, it will be necessary to strengthen the team and compensate for some departures. OM defender Amir Murillo could be one of the players leaving the club.
According to news from British media Caught Offside, two Premier League clubs, Aston Villa and Newcastle, are closely interested in Panama’s right back. These two English teams, currently in the race to win a place in the Champions League, checked Murillo’s name as a potential reinforcement for next season.
The 29-year-old arrived at the Olympique de Marseille from Anderlecht and won in the right corridor of the Marseille defence thanks to his physical qualities and experience. Colón’s native also explained that he had made significant progress under De Zerbi at a press conference this month.
However, according to information from the media Futbol Centroamérica, Murillo’s departure is not to be excluded this summer. The player would consider studying any interesting offer if it meets his or her sporting and personal expectations.
It remains to be seen whether the interest of English clubs will materialize in a firm offer in the coming days.
