Angers COS targets Steve Mounié to strengthen his attack

The SCO d’Angers plans to recruit Steve Mounié to fill the probable departure from Estébán Lepaul to Stade Rennais. Despite the recent arrival of Rémy Label Lascary, able to play in several offensive positions, the club angevin is looking for an experienced reinforcement before the closing of the mercato on August 31. The interest in Mounié, a 1.89m attacker currently playing at FC Augsburg in the Bundesliga, is explained by a definite advantage: Laurent Boissieur, SCO’s sports coordinator, has already worked with the player during his visit to the Olympic Nîmes between 2015 and 2016.

Mounié is a well-known French fan player, thanks to his successful passages at the MHSC from 2014 to 2017 and at the Stade Brestois from 2020 to 2024. In particular, he was a key element of the 2023-2024 season at Stade Brestois, which ranked third in Ligue 1. The native of Benin totaled 162 matches in Ligue 1, with 44 goals and 11 assists to his credit, demonstrating his talent and experience.

The opportunity to acquire Steve Mounié in the form of a loan is particularly attractive for the SCO of Angers. His powerful attacker profile and Ligue 1 experience could provide a quality alternative and reinforce the Angelvine attack for the coming season. The player’s knowledge by Laurent Boissieur also facilitates negotiation and increases the chances of making this transfer a reality.
