Danilo Botafogo a new Lyon chapter in mourning

The Danilo midfielder, operating in Nottingham Forest, is about to engage with Botafogo for โ‚ฌ22 million. This decision marks the end of the attempts of the former leader of Olympique Lyonnais, John Textour, to keep the player in Lyon, the new management of the club having chosen to no longer support his projects. This evolution comes after an analysis of the potential transfers of Nottingham Forest, notably those of Matt Turner and Danilo, following OL’s retention in Ligue 1. The influence of John Textour, now less powerful within Eagle, is considerably reduced in the Lyon basin, and the player should sign a four-year contract with the Brazilian club.

This news is also marked by the death of Bernard Roubaud, former player of Olympique Lyonnais. He developed with the club between 1960 and 1961, playing 59 games and scoring 9 goals, while delivering 11 assists. He played alongside iconic players like Marcel Aubour and Jean-Camille. Before joining Lyon, Roubaud also played for the Sporting Club of Toulon and Sedan, and was selected with the team of France B.

Olympique Lyonnais expressed its deep sadness at the loss of Bernard Roubaud, considering him the 105th player in his history. Born in Toulon and trained at the Sporting Club de Toulon, Roubaud had always maintained a special attachment to Lyon, stressing his emotional bond with the club and his former teammates. His death at the age of 89 represents a significant loss to the history and community of Olympique Lyonnais.
