Azor Matusiwa, a 27-year-old Dutch midfielder, left Stade Rennais to engage with Ipswich Town, an English Championship club. This new mark marks the tenth defection of a player from the Rennes workforce since last season, as part of a team upgrade policy. MaTusiwa had initially joined the Breton club during the winter mercato 2024, coming from Reims, for an estimated amount of about 15 million euros.
During his visit to Rennes, Azor MaTusiwa played 47 games, scoring a goal and delivering five assists. His departure is envisaged at 11.5 million euros, excluding bonuses, according to information reported by The Team. This transaction represents a significant return on investment for Stade Rennais, which had initially invested a considerable amount to secure its services.
MaTusiwa’s transfer to Ipswich Town is a new chapter in his professional career. After a year and a half spent in Brittany, he continued his career in a high-level championship, with the ambition to flourish in new colours. This new recruit strengthens the Ipswich Town workforce and reflects the growing interest of English clubs in European talent.
