AS Monaco: Staff restructuring and major divestitures

AS Monaco is about to carry out an important renewal of its staff, with the sale of several key players. The most recent decision concerns Soungou Tou Magassa, who is expected to join West Ham United for a sum of 20 million euros, including bonuses. This 21-year-old midfielder had played 31 games last season, including a notable participation in the Champions League. This departure is part of a broader team’s strategy of reducing congestion, aimed at compensating for the lack of television revenues and reducing wage costs. Along with Magassa, ASM is also expected to separate from Wilfried Singo, heading for Galatasaray, for 30 million euros.

In addition to these transfers, AS Monaco plans to separate other experienced players to optimize its workforce. N’Golo Kanté, after two successful seasons in Saudi Arabia, could return to France, with a contract offered by several clubs, including Paris FC and AS Monaco. Its departure is all the more possible since it is still under contract with Al-Ittihad and its market value is estimated at 5 million euros. Other players like Eliessé Ben Seghir, Breeel Embolo, Mohammed Salisu and Krépin Diatta are also close to leaving the club.

This policy of divestiture of players comes as the young talents of the Academy began their championship and the Cercle Brugge began its competition in the Jupiler Pro League. The AS Monaco, accustomed to player movements under the direction of Hütter, timidly starts the League 1 championship. The upcoming international truce provides an opportunity to take stock and finalize these transfers. These decisions demonstrate a willingness to restructure and modernize the team, while maintaining a competitive level of performance.
